Gamejam was founded as an independent games retail company in 1996, shortly after the original Playstation console was launched to the UK market. Within a year, Gamejam expanded to two High Street stores and enjoyed a high degree of commercial success (Little Known Fact: Our Gran Turismo 3 (PS2) sales accounted for 0.5% of the UK's total sales in the first week!)
Since that time, we have always felt that the future of gaming would be represented online and so Gamejam.co.uk is the first step in realising this and continuing the Gamejam name. The future is certainly bright!
We decided to launch a website that would provide a substitute to the local games exchange. A website that would allow gamers to achieve the true value of their games when it came to the time to trade them in. Gamejam placers the user in complete control of this in the form of being able to accept/decline offers from other users. Yes, we have been on the counter-side of this and have had to make high profits on 'trade-in's just so we could pay for rent, business rates, bill, etc, but those days are numbered!
